Application fit

Control the gap, ink and print requirement

TIJ is considered when the application needs compact, high-resolution printing and the product can pass the printhead with a controlled distance. Substrate porosity, ink chemistry, print height, resolution, line speed and head mounting determine the practical result.

  • Carton, label and selected packaging applications requiring detailed variable data
  • Compact installations with controlled product presentation and printhead distance
  • Applications that may add barcode or 2D code reading after print
Selection limits to resolve
  • Ink and substrate compatibility must be demonstrated, especially on non-porous or coated surfaces.
  • Resolution and maximum speed must be published together with the conditions used.
  • Product movement, vibration and throw-distance variation can reduce print quality.

Three scalable system levels

Choose equipment as part of the required solution

These are provisional architectures. Final components and boundaries depend on engineering discovery and verified technical data.

A. Standalone TIJ Coding

For local high-resolution coding with controlled product movement.

  • TIJ controller, cartridge and printhead
  • Sensor and mounting hardware
  • Local job and message controls

B. TIJ + Code Reading

For checking printed barcode, QR or DataMatrix content.

  • TIJ print station
  • Reader or vision camera with lighting
  • Result, alarm or reject interface

C. TIJ + Variable Data Workflow

For job-controlled or serialized printing with records.

  • Data source and print job control
  • Code reading and result capture
  • Production data interface after protocol review

Selection guide

Information VORANIX needs to select the system

Define the print area

Provide total print height, message length, resolution and all code types.

Verify the surface

State porosity, coating, color, contamination and required dry time or rub resistance.

Control product motion

Measure speed, spacing, acceleration, vibration and printhead gap variation.

Define inspection

Clarify whether the system checks presence, reads data or grades code quality.

Engineering integration

System boundaries and acceptance

The final TIJ design must confirm cartridge and ink, print height, resolution, speed conditions, throw distance, product guidance, sensor and encoder needs, controller interfaces, inspection criteria, reject timing and operator maintenance.

Case-study evidence is not yet complete

No verified customer, site, model, before/after result or publication permission was found. Add a case study only after those records are supplied.

Frequently asked questions

Thermal Inkjet Printer FAQ

Is TIJ suitable for non-porous materials?

It may be, with a compatible ink and controlled drying conditions. The actual surface must be tested.

Can TIJ print QR and DataMatrix codes?

Potentially, but module size, resolution, speed, ink spread and verification requirements must be tested together.

How close must the printhead be?

The allowed throw distance depends on the verified printhead and cartridge. No numeric value should be published until the datasheet is supplied.

When should I choose CIJ instead?

Consider CIJ when product presentation, surface variation or continuous high-speed non-contact coding makes a compact TIJ installation less suitable. Test both when uncertain.
