Application fit

Use CO2 laser marking for non-metal packaging and coated surfaces

CO2 laser marking is evaluated for paperboard, cartons, selected plastics, glass bottles and other non-metal surfaces, plus selected coated metals where the coating response creates the required code. Exact compatibility depends on material composition, coating, color, wall thickness, code content and production speed.

  • Carton and paperboard date, lot, text and code marking
  • Marking trials on PE bottles, glass bottles and selected plastic packaging
  • Selected coated-metal applications where the coating can be removed or changed
  • Inline systems that may add vision inspection, reject control or connected data
Selection limits to resolve
  • CO2 suitability varies by polymer, glass composition, coating and required mark appearance; use production samples.
  • The supplied PDF states a 1060 nm wavelength, which requires manufacturer confirmation before publication.
  • The stated 0-130 m/min production-line range depends on material, code and handling conditions.
  • Guarding, interlocks and fume extraction must be designed as part of the complete system.

Frequently asked questions

CO2 Laser Marking Machine FAQ

Which materials can a CO2 laser mark?

The target range includes non-metals and selected coated metals, including cartons, PE bottles and glass bottles. Actual material and coating samples must be tested.

Can CO2 laser mark metal?

It may be suitable for selected coated metals where the coating responds to the laser. Bare-metal applications should be compared with fiber laser marking.

What power range is available?

The supplied specification lists CO2-30W, CO2-40W and CO2-60W. Selection depends on material, code, speed and required mark.

Is the wavelength confirmed?

The supplied PDF states 1060 nm, but this value requires manufacturer confirmation before the public page is approved.

Can vision inspection and reject be added?

Yes, provisionally. Camera, lighting, inspection rule, tracking and reject timing must be engineered for the real line.
